Mt. Baker is replacing the original Chair #1 double chair with a fixed grip quad chair this summer. The number of inquiries we had for Chair #1 chairs over the past 5 years were enormous, and ranged from people such as 30-year volunteer ski patrollers, original ski area board members, newcomers to the area, decades-long season passholders, children just learning to love the mountain, our veteran full-time employees, local ski and snowboard industry key players and many many more. We wrestled with how to prioritize the sales of the chairs amongst the hundreds of inquiries, but had a very difficult time with this, since we believe that everyone has played a vital role in either the current or historical well-being and character of the ski area. And since the public previously had a chance to purchase the chairs from 3, 4 & 5 at a very low rate, we decided to put the incredible interest in Chair 1 towards a good cause and go with a three-pronged format to raise money for the NWAC. Thank you all for your interest in Chair 1, and thank you for raising a sizable sum for the NWAC (over $29,000 and counting!)
