 The Mt. Baker Mountain Education Center was created as a response to dramatic increase in the number of people accessing the backcountry and enjoying powder skiing and snowboarding. The program is run by our director and a group of passionate and experienced volunteers.  Our program aims to educate and promote better decision making for everybody in the mountains.  Director Jeff Hambelton is certified Level 1 by the CAA, with a BA in Recreation from WWU.  He has over 5 years of avalanche control experience at Mt. Baker and is an active member of the Mt. Baker Pro Patrol
